The last leg of my Flores road trip! This was a long backtrack route - but it was worth doing again, in the other direction, as the Bajawa-Ruteng ride is spectacular.
For this trip, the only highlight of note (lowlight actually), was one of those "Indonesia things". First, I tried to pre-book a room in Labuan Bajo on Agoda, only to discover there were no single rooms available (very strange). So I rode on expecting to find something once I got there. On arrival I discovered there was a ASEAN leaders meeting happening the following week, and there was a dry-run happening and roads were closed. I booked a dorm room online, and when I got to the guest house, I was able to upgrade to a room. Then I went to buy a ticket on the ferry the next morning, and learned that the daily schedule had changed, and it was actually it was leaving tonight at 11pm. So I used the room for 4 hours. On the bright side, I did eat one more Napoli pizza at La Cuccina, so my stay wasn't a complete dead loss. The overnight ferry was great, I got a sleeper bunk and slept like a rock for the 8hr journey back to Sumbawa.
