Section 4 of my Vietnam 2025 journey. Another great stretch of scenic coastline and a good 2-night stay in Quy Nhon, the place where the Vietnamese vacation (I was told).
Leaving Nha Trang you ride through the northern coast and then get some great views looking back at the town. And it gets better on the way to Tuy Hoa, some really nice coastal scenery.
I started the trip thinking I may stay overnight in Tuy Hao. But after arriving and riding through town a bit I decided to keep riding north. While the place looked decent, there wasn't a hint of a tourist scene in action.
The next stretch of road features some of the marquee highlights of the coastal road. One highlight is a bay of floating houses and restaurants (missed the name...); soon after you pass a French-era lighthouse, next is the legendary bamboo bridge.
Close to Quy Nhon, I did a quick diversion, visiting a beachside of unique volcanic rock formations, similar to the Giant's Causeway in Ireland.
Quy Nhon is a nice place, definitely worth a night or 2. It's got all the big beach town elements as Dan Nang or Nha Trang, but you barely see any foriegn faces here. I had a delicious clam and oyster feast, as well as a decent pizza. Also stumbled upon the opening of the new East-West Brewery outlet and smashed a couple of IPAs.
I stayed 2 nights at Lux Homestay, the highlights being the incredible aquariums in the lobby and the manager's tiny chihuahua - the smallest dog I have ever seen.
Ride: 240 km / 5 hrs
Stay: Lux Homestay / $12 / ****
Route and stops
The map below is not 100% accurate - using Google Maps, I couldn't create a map that crosses the Bamboo Bridge.... (ugh).
