The first leg of my Flores tour. After finishing an intense and super-wow 28-day Divemaster training at Scuba Junkie Komodo, I was back in Labuan Bajo early. Collected my Aerox from its 1-month parking spot, had a pizza and Bintang at 11:00 am, then set out for Ruteng, my first stop on a 10-14 day journey. Out of LBJ it was straight into mountains. with amazing vistas, rice terraces, windy roads - pretty much moto paradise. This was to be the landscape of most of Flores to come.
I made it to Ruteng in about 4 hours. Nice town on the side of a mountain, no tourists, an awesome setting. Caught an excellent reggae band in one of the hipper cafes in town. Could have stayed a couple of nights, but didn't, as I was keen to hit the Hobbit Cave the next day.
